03:59 pm - For Real- Lucky and Elizabeth, GH
Title: For Real
Rating: PG-13 ish
Characters: Lucky Spencer, Elizabeth Webber Spencer
Notes: Just a continuation of today's GH (what I would like to see happen next....) Again with my deviation from canon, but only because I refuse to believe Lucky is stupid.

"Don't do this. Don't go."

With those five words, he had somehow managed to undo all her resolve. Elizabeth let out a strangled sob. "Lucky, please don't," she said, covering her mouth with her hand, tears streaming down her face. "This can't work, we decided..."

He was across the room and had his arms around her in seconds, his mouth covering hers and Elizabeth felt like she had gone back in time to that first kiss when they were teenagers and suddenly she knew her 'feelings' for Jason were just those of deep friendship that she had misconstrued for love; this was why she was alive, to love this man....but there was so much still in their way. She pulled back and turned away from him, ripping herself from his arms though she wanted nothing more than to stay there forever.

"Elizabeth-"

"No." She turned back to face him, holding onto the mantle for support. If she let go, she feared her legs would buckle underneath her. "Lucky, there's so much in the way, so much has happened, things you don't know about..."

"Like the fact that Jason is Jake's father?" Lucky said calmly. Elizabeth could only look at him in shock as he continued. "I'm not stupid, Elizabeth, I figured it out a long time ago, back when Jake was kidnapped. Why else would Jason have been so involved in looking for him?" He sighed, scrubbing his hand across his face. "I can't tell you it doesn't seriously hurt, Elizabeth, especially that you lied to me." He moved to her, taking her hands in his. "But I can't justify being angry with you over that when I've done worse to you. We've both done things to hurt each other, and I wish we could just put them in the past and start over."

"But we can't." Elizabeth took a deep breath. "Lucky, why do you even still want to be with me?" She was still crying, and Lucky let go of one of her hands to wipe some of her tears away with his thumb. She unconsciously leaned into his touch, and he smiled.

"That's why." When she looked up at him, confused, he continued. "We can't stay away from each other, Lizzie, no matter how hard we try, and no matter how much we hurt each other. Look at everything that's happened since we've met." He stroked the curve of her face with his finger. "And yet we keep ending up right back here, with each other. Don't you think maybe fate is trying to tell us something here?"

At that, Elizabeth was able to smile. She looked into Lucky's eyes, she felt something break inside her, and she knew she would never be happy if she wasn't with him- it was something she had known since she was sixteen, but she kept pushing it down inside when it was convenient for her. However, she just couldn't ignore it any more. She stood up on her tiptoes and kissed him lightly, smiling against his mouth when she felt him tangle his hand in her ponytail and deepen the kiss.

And it felt right- the kiss felt real, like it used to, only better because there were no secrets between them any more, and they could finally work through everything together. That's what marriage was, Elizabeth realized. You screwed up? Okay, if you love the person enough, fix it. And don't do it again.

The kiss grew hungrier and more desperate, and Lucky's hands traveled south to lift her up against him, and she wrapped her legs around his waist.

"Let's go upstairs, before Lesley walks in," she whispered in his ear, giggling. Lucky nearly dropped her in his haste to get up to the bedroom, and she laughed in delight, feeling freer than she had in a long time.

Later, they were laying in their bed (that they hadn't shared like this since before they had been married the last time- actually, since before Liz had gotten pregnant with Jake) tangled together, and Liz was half on top of Lucky and their hands were entwined, and he was rubbing her shoulder.

"You really think we can work this out?" she asked quietly, and he knew what she was really asking was, 'You don't hate me for having a child with another man?' He dropped a light kiss on her temple and sighed.

"It's gonna take time and work, Lizzie, and I can't lie and tell you I'm okay with Jason being Jake's father," he admitted, and felt her tense. He continued. "But you, and the boys, you're more important to me than being angry. I feel betrayed that you lied to me, but it isn't like I haven't done the same, so part of me feels like a hypocrite if I'm angry with you."

"But I want you to be angry," Elizabeth said, sitting up and looking down at him seriously. "Then we can work through these things instead of just being silent and letting it fester inside us."

There was a moment of silence, and then, "Fester?"

Liz just gave her husband (for real, now, her mind told her) a Look, and he let out a chuckle that reminded her so much of the boy she had fallen in love with, the boy that had grown into this man who still wouldn't let her heart leave his possesion- not that she wanted it to.

"Sorry, but fester? That sounds like something Cruz would say," Lucky informed her, pulling her back down on top of him and kissing a trail down her neck.

"How about we don't talk about your partner right now?" Elizabeth suggested, raising an eyebrow.

"I like that idea."

"Yeah?"

"Mmm-hmm."

Emily sighed as she and Nikolas walked up the front sidewalk. "It just makes me sad. I mean, you and I found our way back to each other."

"Yeah, but we needed time, Em," he reminded her. "Maybe they do too. Or maybe it just isn't meant to be."

"Yeah," she said sadly as they reached the front door. Not even bothering to knock, Emily walked into the living room.

And was scarred for life at the sight of her two best friends (whom she could have sworn had just told her the day before that they were getting a divorce) partially naked and totally embarassed. Elizabeth was blushing to the roots of her hair as she scrambled to cover up.

"I- you said-," Emily stammered. She heard Nikolas chuckle softly beside her, but she couldn't form a coherent thought. "Lucky, put some clothes on, damn it!"

"Sorry, Em," Lucky said good-naturedly, grinning as he pulled his jeans back on. "I told you we should have stayed upstairs and saved the unpacking thing for later," he said to a still flame-faced Elizabeth, who merely swatted him on the arm as she attempted to straighten her top.

"Wait, unpacking?" Nikolas asked. "Does that mean-"

"The divorce is off," Liz announced, biting her lip and looking back at Lucky happily. Emily squealed and launched herself at her female best friend, and the two went off into a corner to chat and giggle.

"So, then, you know everything?" Nikolas asked Lucky. Lucky nodded, his expression darkening for a moment before brightening again.

"We're going to work through it, because we want to stay together for good this time," he said, smiling in a way that Nikolas had not seen his younger brother smile in quite a long time.

"Good," Nikolas said. "But hurt her again, and I'm kicking your ass."

"That's fair."

"Wanna go over to Audrey's and get all the crap Emily just lugged over there?" Nikolas asked.

"Yeah, sounds good. We can tell her the good news."

"Should we tell them we're leaving?"

"Nah, they won't even notice."

Lucky knew he was smiling like an idiot as he and Nikolas left to head to Audrey's, but he couldn't help it. Things were finally back to the way that they always should have been.
