Luke hates what has happened. He's glad that Noah has finally admitted that he's gay- has actually said the words out loud, but he doesn't want to lose Maddie. And he doesn't want to lose hs chance with Noah. Because Noah's the first guy Luke's been interested in that has actually shown some sort of interest back.

However, there's the matter of Colonel Mayer. He's definitely going to be a problem, Luke thinks. And Maddie, who's been hurt more in her short life than anyone deserves to.

He sighs to himself. Maybe there's no way to win. Maybe Maddie will never speak to him again, and maybe he and Noah will never get their chance. There is a knock on the office doorframe, and he spins around in his chair to see the object- make that plural, objects of his thoughts standing there.

Together. Both smiling. He raises a suspicious eyebrow as Maddie flounces into the office.

"Get off your ass, Snyder. We have work to do."

He looks over at Noah, who shrugs and mouths, 'Just go with it'. So he does, because maybe things with Maddie are going to be okay after all. He's still not sure about Noah, but as they move around the office, getting everything together, he realizes that this friendship thing they seem to be moving toward is at least a start, and that's better than nothing.
